two dubbed techno wonders on a coloured 7 platter. lars fenin, born and raised in hamburg has been around the music scene in berlin since the mid 90ties as reggae guitarist/songwriter/live-act/artist/producer/dj. his first experiments in electronic music started in 1998 with some friends in hamburg, followed two years later by his first ep release called &#8243,,,,,herr pitzelberger dreht auf” for the berlin based label shitkatapult. since then fenin has released several eps and albums for his homies shitkatapult as well as 12&#8243,,,,,, s and remixes for labels like echocord, revolver, eintakt and mitek among others. along the years he could boast collaborations with artists such as deadbeat, mikael stavostrand, d-meteo, k.j. gibbs,horace andy, der dritte raum, eraldo bernocchi and jeff milligan. since 2008 he runs also his own label called dock-records. soundwise, fenins productions range from roots reggae/dub pieces to cordish/melodic techno sets and electronic alike soundscapes. the future is unwritten.

federsen returns to fifth interval for another sublime instalment of dance floor friendly dub-techno. dewpoint is an altogether tighter affair when compared to the label s first release, point reyes. the drums are taut and razor-sharp, propelling the listener effortlessly through a dense fog of ferric clouds, swelling to fill the outer-reaches of the echo chamber. a highly polished metallic production style that can be compared to some of andy stott s early and classic works. tomas rubek remixes dewpoint for the b-side, remaining faithful to the original track s structure but viewing it through a tinted lens. dewpoint s chords become iridescent, kick drums fall into a straighter pattern and are backed by further dusty percussion, shifting the original into spheres inhabited by the likes of rod modell and fluxion.

brilliant and conceptual reinterpretation of coldfish debut album on all inn records. the orphans remixes contains 8 different approaches of 8 geniously artists from the modern electronic music scene. just as the original release this album is also beautifully composed and it shows a large scale of shades from experimental electronics by the ambient-electronica heroes lenta and eril fjord, through the well-known techno statues of all inn records: verrina & ventura, kamran sadeghi, roger gerressen and andy kolwes until guest remixers like s.a.m. and peter dildo (rozzo, mountain people). first class material, all in one! must have!

people must jam have an undisputed three for three on the score board, and it comes as no surprise that this serious second innings in the floor jammers va series is heading straight for the outfield too ! it s a truly international affair, as chicago disco don rahaan takes the lead with an irresistible uptempo jazz-funk rewire while uk producer andy ash is next up to the plate, rearranging and amping up a teddy p classic on the b, tokyo s beaten space probe takes on millie jackson s incendiary we got to hit it off (as recently hacked up by tom trago) bsp leaves in the best bits here as the powerhouse groove gets a respectful renovation. finally out in the sticks wrap it all up eighties fashion, as a slamming bassline led drum machine jam powers us to fourth base. strictly limited to 300 copies.

what better way to follow up andy meechams (chicken lips / emperor machine) huge gino fontaine originals than a duo of remixes from balearic chieftains pete herbert & stratus as one half of reverso 68 alongside phil mison, and in his own right pete has been behind a ton of mesmerising sunrise and sunset workouts, and he’s more than delivered here - crisp and club ready percussion, those stark punk-funkin’ guitars and his trademark synth work all conspire to cook up a storm on the floor martin jenkins and mat anthonys stratus outfit (remember their superb *spring tide ep* on aficionado last year ?) take a pop at the sublime konkondo on the flip and what a masterpiece it is ! a ten minute, utterly absorbing and expertly evolving piece, which flips the darker elements of the original into a mesmerising, cinematic, early 90s style balearic epic.

returning to the southern fried home, machine loving disco oddball andy meecham aka the emperor machine is back with a new single from his album, and it comes ahead of a full new ep in 2015. *pop the lid* comes with remixes by hotter than hot international talent jacques renault, with whom meecham has also collaborated on a new ep forthcoming on jacques lets play house label, and will come in the form of a hand stamped and numbered white label 12 inch, limited to 300 copies.

wolfram says: i started to record the track cant remember when i was in africa and some riots happened in egypt in 2013. it was a weird time so it turned out to be a dark tune with robotic vocals. i recorded the vocals for the track talking to you when i was on tour with andy butler in the hotel room on my macbook air. basically its him saying this beat is talking to you and i recorded some burp sounds on the flight and train home. i invited him to my home studio to change the demo vocals, but he felt asleep on the chair next to me. so, i thought maybe i should just the use the demo macbook vocals.

sea levels is the brand new ep from andy donnelly aka kloke. a recent graduate of red bull music academy new york and british ex-pat marooned in melbourne for the past decade, donnelly distills the urban groove and bucolic mood of his heritage through the vibrancy of his new environs into a wholly unique soundscape.

andy meecham is a man of many musical incarnations and has been since the early 90s. following on from projects like the now dormant bizarre inc and revived dub-disco duo chicken lips, it is as the emperor machine that he explores his most experimental sounds. to date there have been three full length albums on dc recordings after the project was initially started with the idea of creating music using just one synth, the roland sh-3a. the results lay out the staffordshire mans love of vintage synthesisers for all to see, and combine tough edged disco beats with more cerebral cosmic melodies into alluring soundscapes that bend your mind and drive your feet. as well as a slew of 12s and lps, the emperor machine has also turned his hand to remixes of giants like moby, daft punk and royksopp, and has previously taken a live and inspiringly psychedelic incarnation of the project to clubs and festivals across the planet.
